How we choose a dam for our breeding program
At Southern Charm Precious Paws, breeding is never done casually or for convenience. Every dam in our program is chosen through a thoughtful, ethical process that prioritizes health, temperament, structure, and lifelong wellbeing β because the foundation of every great puppy starts with the mother.
Health Is Our First Requirement
Before a female is ever considered for breeding, she must meet strict health standards.
We evaluate:
- Full DNA screening for hereditary conditions
- Heart, patellas, and respiratory health
- Overall physical soundness
- Reproductive wellness
- Healthy weight and body condition
If a dam does not meet these standards, she is not bred β period.
